David entered the art world accidentally in 2000. As a gift from his wife, David began taking cartooning classes with Tom Gill, of The Lone Ranger fame. Having been discouraged to study art as a child, David found new joy and freedom in the arts through cartooning. This led to the development of Francis Gaystone, a cartoon minister with a 12 step philosophy. As an employee of Metro North, David had his cartoon work featured in 2004 at a showing in Grand Central Station. David's new found joy led to classes in life drawing, oils, pastels and other media. David's work has been shown at the World Fine Arts Gallery in Manhattan, the John Heart Gallery in Shrub Oak, The Warner Library in Tarrytown and at area churches.
David's current work focuses heavily on Christian Faith. Early David created a pen and in Drawing of Christ Crucified. In time this has led to a series of work revolving around the Passion. An abstract view of the human face has been the focus of this series. As its development has reflected a meditation on suffering and consolation.
With a motivation to create a space for amateur and novice artists to develop their skills and voices as artists, as well as provide a space for local artists to show their work, David opened The Ossining Arts Gallery in November, 2009.
